Chapter 38 Recruiting Servants
Chapter 38 Recruiting Servants
As she spoke, it seemed she was already certain that Vijay would choose to marry her.
They didn't leave Vijay any room to maneuver.
Mira has been so honest, but Vijay still can't accept this unexpected sweetness, even if we put Mira herself aside.
There's a saying: Everything that fate bestows has already been secretly marked with its stakes!
Vijay couldn't see the stakes and the consequences, so how dare he easily make a move!
With a soft sigh, Vijay silently agreed, and Mira helped him change and clean himself before he finished breakfast.
The northern spices and roasted flavors were surprisingly to his liking, sweet and mellow, leaving a lingering fragrance on his palate.
After finishing breakfast, Vijay went out, intending to go to the playground to work out, when suddenly the gate rang.
Before Vijay could open the door, Bim squeezed in.
He's back from Harappa!
"Shiva, my master, I have brought all the goods!" Bim bowed respectfully, his manner of politeness far more pleasant than his son's constant prostrations. "They're right outside the door; please inspect them!"
Vijay wasn't really interested in watching it; he didn't understand it anyway, so why waste his energy?
Bim continued, "Lord Roshman also sent a squad of guards to join the caravan; they're right outside the gate!"
I have no choice but to watch this now.
As soon as Vijay stepped outside, he was greeted by two familiar faces.
One is Sadah, who made some harsh remarks to himself and then disappeared without a word...
This guy has obviously gone back to Harappa to complain to Roshman!
However, judging from his current sullen and unpleasant face, it seems that his complaint was not very successful.
As expected!
Another familiar face, riding a tall horse, was the same fierce warrior who had escorted Dalit here the day before and accepted the Sam gems.
The man approached slowly with a smile, and Sada jogged a few steps forward to introduce him: "This is Lord Vilandra, the centurion of Harappa City. He has been appointed by Lord Rosman to serve as the commander of the caravan's guards."
Is this the observer that Roshman appears to be on the surface?
A battle-hardened Mahayoda!
Looking at his thick arms and the heavy hammer almost as tall as a man resting on his horse, Vijay had no doubt that he could take on two Yoda warriors at their peak on the front lines.
The 10 soldiers behind him didn't look like easy targets either.
Just looking at their standing posture and formation is terrifyingly strong!
Individually, their combat strength is probably not much inferior to his own.
Logically speaking, this should be a good thing, right?
Vijay was both amused and exasperated; indeed, the stronger the caravan, the safer the journey.
But that's during legitimate business dealings; this time, however, it's...
The bandits and wild beasts on the road might be a minor problem, but this group of soldiers might become the greatest danger!
Despite his mixed feelings, Vijay greeted the warriors with great enthusiasm, then turned to Maya and said, "Maya, quickly prepare a sumptuous feast. Today I wish to entertain all of you gentlemen."
Maya bowed and accepted the order, but then turned and jogged toward Mira, as if to report the matter truthfully and hand over the initiative and control to Mira!
If she really is the mistress of the house, then there's nothing wrong with that...
Vijay felt a little annoyed upon seeing this, not expecting that Maya would be so quickly won over by Mira!
He then looked at Bim and said earnestly, "Bim, now that everything is ready, immediately assemble a caravan of appropriate size as I previously suggested, so as not to keep the nobles waiting."
"Yes, Master!" Bim didn't waste any more words, kowtowed repeatedly, and withdrew after receiving the order.
Several warriors were led into the side courtyard by Mira's servants.
Vijay stood there, about to follow them inside, when he suddenly saw a tall figure in the distance, hiding at a street corner and secretly watching, seemingly afraid to get close lest it affect the mood of the lords.
Vijay didn't care at all and immediately waved to the clumsy figure.
Upon seeing this, Shu Hu immediately stepped forward, and before reaching him, he prostrated himself on the ground in a full-body prostration, his lips almost touching the dust, and respectfully reported: "Your Excellency, I have completed the settlement of the Dalits as you commanded, and have come to report!"
So fast?
Vijay was slightly surprised. He had thought he was too late, but he hadn't expected to give him such a pleasant surprise!
But when I checked yesterday, only a little over 2000 Dalits had submitted...
Vijay opened the panel and took a closer look: 'Dalit Tribe: Not fully subdued (2681/3455), maximum overall ability value 81%'
"It's not fully integrated yet!" Vijay narrowed his eyes and asked, looking down, "Are you sure you've integrated all the Dalits?"
Shu Hu remained prostrate on the ground, speaking fluently, respectfully and frankly: "Your Excellency, it is not all."
"The Dalits who came here this time originally belonged to two different villages and didn't know each other. I've only been in the village for two years..."
"We've only just arrived in the village, and it's thanks to your kindness, sir, that we have food. But some of the Dalits don't understand hierarchy and are still attached to their old home!"
"So I could only appease some of them and make sure they could live peacefully in Mittal, without violating the lord's laws or causing trouble."
Vijay saw that he spoke sincerely and nodded slightly, agreeing that it was indeed true.
If Treebeau could handle all the Dalits by himself, then what would be the point of Rajan? I probably wouldn't feel too at ease either!
His tone immediately softened, he nodded, and said loudly, "Since you have done your best, I will keep my promise. I hereby promote you to steward of Dalit, and you are permitted to consider yourself my personal servant!"
"Thank you, Master!" Treebeard was moved to tears and kowtowed repeatedly.
For a Dalit, being able to identify a master, even if he cannot jump the caste, is an incredibly important event that can change him and his descendants!
Vijay had no idea what Treebeard was thinking; he simply opened the system immediately, wanting to check Treebeard's attributes.
However, the name of Shuhu is still not shown in the list of "Yuren"!
Could it be that I've misunderstood? Vijay was puzzled when he suddenly felt a cold gaze upon him.
Almost reflexively, Vijay turned his head to look at the source of the gaze.
He appeared in the shadows across the street beside him, coldly watching him.
How could I forget this one!
Vijay almost slapped his forehead, suddenly realizing what he had just said. He quickly stepped forward, clasped his hands in prayer, and respectfully said, "Shiva, my lord, I was just about to invite you to a banquet to entertain the warriors sent by Lord Kshatriya Roshman of Harappa..."
"Do you intend to take this Dalit as your servant?" Vanu's eyes flickered slightly, his large, single eye sweeping over Shu Hu. "Do you require me to preside over a ritual to thank the gods and establish the master-servant relationship?"
Vijay said bluntly, "May I ask, sir!"
Fannu glanced at the tree stump on the ground: "This is a small matter. You only need to prepare a small altar, offer incense, sacrifices, and ritual implements, and I will preside over the ceremony for you."
Sure enough, this is an easy-going adult!
Vijay was overjoyed and immediately turned around to look for Maya, but saw one of Mira's servants standing outside the door.
Vijay paused, then tentatively instructed, "Go find Maya and tell her to quickly prepare an altar, spices, a lute, and other items, and send them here immediately!"
Without saying a word, the servant immediately saluted and jogged away backwards, his behavior setting a perfect example for servants.
The site for the ritual was chosen next to the village well, and the Vaishyas and Shudras all stopped to watch.
This Brahmanic ritual, according to the Manusmriti, is extremely sacred and rarely seen by ordinary people. Yet now it is being performed for a lowly Dalit. Although the crowd is envious, they dare not say anything because their patriarch is with a Brahman.
His eyes hovered around the well opening, seemingly searching for a suitable spot. After a moment, without any visible movement, the ground trembled slightly, dust rose, and a simple altar appeared out of thin air.
Then, the various offerings were taken by an invisible hand and displayed one by one.
In a short while, the sacrificial rites were completed, and Mu Lingweijie sat in the main seat, while Shu Hu remained kneeling.
Then, the ritual began.
The air vibrated, chanting arose, the intense heat vanished, and a cool sensation arose. The water in the well was lifted by an invisible force, turning into mist that drifted in all directions, appearing especially sacred under the light.
The eye then drifted to the side of the tree beard and, using a secret method, took a drop of blood from between the tree beard's eyebrows, placed it on the altar, and loudly chanted: "Do you wish to serve Vaishya Vijaya as your lord, to follow him in life and death, and to remain steadfast until death?"
Having already received guidance, Treebeard immediately raised his head and loudly replied, "Brahma above, I agree!"
As Shu Hu finished speaking, it seemed as if some unseen gaze was watching this place. Vijay did as he was told, took the blood droplet from the altar, held it in his palm, and gently touched it back to Shu Hu's forehead.
The blood droplets were imprinted on it like rubies, their brilliance flashing and disappearing in an instant.
Fan Nu looked up and said in a trembling voice, "The ceremony is complete."
"By Brahma, thank you, Your Excellency!" Vijay was amazed; he had never seen anything like this before, and hurriedly expressed his gratitude.
"No need for such formalities, Master!" The purpose of the statement was cold, but it was actually a kind-hearted person who didn't even ask Vijay for any reward!
Just as Vijay was about to make a promise, he saw Mira's servant jogging closer.
Although his body trembled slightly, and he appeared apprehensive, he held out a small cloth bag in his outstretched hand: "Thank you for your hard work for the patriarch, sir. Please accept this offering..."
This is really...
Vijay didn't know what to say, so he turned his head and opened the system.
The attributes of the tree beard were clearly displayed in Dalit's list:
『树胡:忠诚度80,综合能力值81%,主要技能1、血脉回归(1/5);2、自然给养(1/3);3、统御(1/9)』
I actually won the prize!
Vijay was overjoyed.
Overall ability score of 81%! And it even has 3 skills!
If this were converted into a card game, it would be at least an A-grade card!
Vijay was overjoyed; out of more than 3000 Dalits, he could draw one A-grade card.
Among the remaining Dalits, are there still any B-grade or C-grade cards?
Vijay suppressed his inner joy, raised his head, and his gaze seemed to pass through the village and land on the still numb Dalits.
These people are truly hidden gems!
