Chapter 945 - 944: Which Room Will You Sleep In?
Qin Siling shot him a glare, but felt oddly reassured inside. This little brother was very different from before, much calmer and more composed; that was a good thing.
When she left, she gave him a look that meant: keep yourself in check.
With such a lively little girl, she still doubted his self-control...
After Qin Siling left, Qin Siyuan was probably a bit tired. He leaned back on the sofa to rest for a while.
Gu Mingzhu sat beside him. At first she held her phone, staring at it to see if there was any news from Gu Anxi, but after a while she got a bit tired, put the phone down, turned her head and just stared at Qin Siyuan’s face that looked like he was asleep.
He was very good-looking.
The straight-up handsome type, with a great figure, a little over 180cm. He was very lean, but the muscles under his shirt still faintly showed through.
Gu Mingzhu stared at him for a long time—
This was the man Gu Anxi used to like?
Had Gu Anxi hugged him before, kissed him before?
She wanted to see clearly, so she leaned closer and closer. In the end her body wobbled and she accidentally fell on top of him.
Qin Siyuan woke up. When he opened his eyes, he saw Gu Mingzhu’s pretty little face. Her eyes were wide open, and then she tried to move away.
A big hand closed around her palm-sized waist. The man’s voice was very hoarse: "How did you end up falling on me?"
At the same time he very naturally glanced at his watch: "It’s already this late, you can take a shower and go to bed."
He lowered his head to look at her again: "You’re a year younger than Anxi, right? Twenty this year?"
Gu Mingzhu bit her lip, weakly bracing her hands against his chest.
Qin Siyuan smiled again: "I’m not going to do anything to you. You’re Anxi’s younger sister."
He finally let her go and stood up: "There are two bedrooms here. I’ll take the smaller one. You probably won’t sleep well otherwise. Oh right, you can pick up your stuff first thing tomorrow morning. For tonight just wear the hotel bathrobe."
Gu Mingzhu immediately refused: "I don’t wear hotel clothes."
Qin Siyuan pondered for a moment: "It’s probably a bit late to go buy something now."
He really did seem to have a very good temper. Hands on his hips, he paced back and forth a few times, then decided: "How about this, you can wear one of my shirts. I’ll find one for you."
With that, he went into the walk-in closet and took out a black one. He figured black would be less see-through.
He handed it to Gu Mingzhu. Princess Gu was fidgety and embarrassed. Qin Siyuan lowered his head and asked gently, "What’s wrong?"
Gu Mingzhu said in a low voice, "Underneath... I don’t have any."
Qin Siyuan was surprised: "Can you make do for one night? Otherwise you can wash them and there’s a dryer here—you can just dry them."
"I don’t know how." Princess Gu said it righteously, and she didn’t want to make do either.
Qin Siyuan looked at her in even greater surprise, then after a while shook his head with a laugh: "Alright then, you go shower first. I’ll wash them and dry them for you."
Gu Mingzhu answered with an "oh" and ran into the bathroom.
Qin Siyuan stood where he was and silently laughed once.
The women he’d been around were either independent, or very sensible. He really hadn’t met someone like Gu Mingzhu before. But he didn’t dislike her; probably because she was young and pretty, he subconsciously became more tolerant of her. Plus, she really did look a bit like Anxi...
Maybe it was nostalgia.
He let out a sigh.
Gu Mingzhu finished her shower and came out wearing his shirt, holding the clothes she’d changed out of in her hands: "How do you wash this?"
Qin Siyuan’s gaze lingered on her; his heart skipped a beat. It took him quite a while to look away, and his voice was slightly husky: "I’ll show you once. Next time you’ll know."
She obediently followed behind him. When they got in front of the washer-dryer, Qin Siyuan did his best not to look at those thin, tiny clothes in his hands. With a perfectly calm face, he washed them and put them into the dryer.
When he took them out, they were already done.
"It’s that simple?" Gu Mingzhu blinked. "That’s amazing."
"No one ever taught you?" Qin Siyuan asked her softly.
From his angle, he could see her slender shoulders and her clean, thin collarbones. A fine chain hung around them—it looked very nice.
Any lower and he didn’t dare look.
Right now, he was starting to doubt whether bringing such a little girl to stay by his side was the right thing to do. He seemed to have overestimated himself.
Gu Mingzhu took her clothes back and pressed her lips together: "Then I’ll go put them on."
Qin Siyuan watched her go into the master bedroom. She came out after a while. She had changed into the clothes underneath, but she was still wearing his shirt on the outside... He sighed inwardly.
Later, she went to watch TV and didn’t seem to have any intention of going to sleep.
He still had some things to take care of, so he went to take a shower. At first he was going to put on the bathrobe, but after thinking about it, he changed into a clean set of clothes instead and went into the small study. When he came out, he discovered that Gu Mingzhu was gone.
He searched around a bit and finally found her in the laundry room.
She was washing clothes for him.
But even though it was such a simple thing, she struggled with it for a long time, and in the end the pile of clothes was washed into a complete mess, especially the shirts, which were all out of shape. Qin Siyuan truly hadn’t known she had this much destructive power. He walked over and sighed: "They’re ruined anyway."
Gu Mingzhu looked at the shirts in her hands and raised her eyes to him: "Are they very expensive?"
"They’re fine." He tossed the clothes into the trash can, put an arm around her shoulders and led her out, a bit forcefully: "Go to bed. I’ll help you get your luggage tomorrow morning."
He finished speaking and was about to leave when Gu Mingzhu tugged at his shirt.
He turned back.
The little girl was kneeling on the bed, tilting her small face up to lightly ask, "Qin Siyuan, can you help me tell Gu Anxi that I want to stay with her?"
Qin Siyuan was silent for a while before he spoke: "Don’t you not like her?"
"Not anymore." She said very seriously, "I just want to follow her."
Qin Siyuan sat down, sitting beside her, smiling faintly: "But it’s very dangerous around her right now."
"It’s exactly because it’s dangerous that I want to stay by her side even more, so she doesn’t always think I’m a coward, think I’m useless." She was a bit agitated.
She stared at him for a long time before saying, "You’re not worried about her? You don’t want to help her?"
Qin Siyuan gave a faint smile, a bit bitter: "The best way I can treat her now is to keep my distance. She’s married. What would it look like if I kept circling around her every day?"
"Oh, right." Gu Mingzhu stared at him openly. "You still look like you like her. You must be in a really bad mood tonight, huh? Pretty pathetic."
Qin Siyuan sighed.
This little girl—no wonder Anxi would...
He got up speechlessly, but was grabbed again: "You’re not going to help me?"
Qin Siyuan lowered his head, his voice hoarse: "If you care about her, then don’t hold her back. Otherwise you’ll only get her killed. The Gu Anxi of today is different from the one who went to Dark to save you back then. She can’t protect you anymore."
Gu Mingzhu froze.
After a long while, her hand slowly slid down. She pressed her lips together. "I know I’m selfish, and childish too. I know all that. I also know nobody likes me."
It was only because she was thick-skinned that she’d stayed.
Qin Siyuan really wasn’t in the mood to comfort her, and slowly walked out.
When the door closed, Princess Gu started throwing a tantrum again. Just then she saw a jacket on the bed that belonged to Qin Siyuan, so she grabbed it and bit it and flung it around, venting her anger. That was just how the princess was...
When Qin Siyuan left, he suddenly remembered that his jacket was still inside, so he came back for it. As soon as he opened the door he saw that rather ridiculous scene. She was wearing his shirt, sprawled over his jacket like a little dog.
Qin Siyuan actually could have interrupted her, but on second thought, he gave up.
He closed the door again and smiled silently.
Now he understood why Anxi could let go of the past and still look after her. She was just so infuriating and funny at the same time. Who could really hold a grudge against such a willful child...
But this willful child was indeed very pretty.
Even... Qin Siyuan didn’t dare let his thoughts go any further...
