Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress

Chapter 385: They Should Get Used to It

Chapter 385: They Should Get Used to It

Chapter 385: They Should Get Used to It"Ferdinand, put me down.

I can walk on my own," Arabella protested.

It would be so embarrassing to go to the dining room just like this.

It would also create a fuss.

The others could imply she was not feeling well.

Or that something happened that made her unable to walk on her own.

And something like that had a lot of interpretations.

"You lost some weight," Ferdinand frowned.

He had no plan to settle her down at all.

"Eh? I did?" Arabella didn’t even notice.

"Are you even eating properly during lunch and dinner?"

They always ate breakfast together.

The past few days, lunch and dinner were usually with others due to the balls, banquets, and tea parties.

She couldn’t really eat properly during such times since everyone was trying to get close to her when they realized she was important to Ferdinand and not an Empress in name only.

Thus, she was conversing with someone most of the time.

She only got the chance to eat the times Ferdinand was with her and he was sitting right beside her.

Especially when he got annoyed with the people crowding her and glared at them.

They were afraid to approach her when he was by her side since they feared accidentally saying something that could offend him.

"I manage to eat enough," Arabella replied, and her husband’s brows further furrowed.

[So, she hasn’t been able to eat properly indeed.

And yet, she is working so hard all the time.]

"What did you eat for lunch?" Ferdinand inquired since they were at different events after the morning meetings.

"Hmm. Pastries and some fruit," Arabella said, and her husband’s lips drew a line in disapproval.

"What am I going to do if you collapse?"

Ferdinand was reminded of when she was unconscious last time.

"I had some refreshments once I returned here," Arabella assured him.

She shrunk when Ferdinand looked like he was going to scold her.

But he sighed deeply instead.

"You are not eating properly.

And yet, you have been too busy the past few days.

Are you sure you are not overworking yourself?

You told me to take care of my body.

I want you to take care of yours too.

Especially since yours is much more delicate.

If you collapse again, I might just go crazy this time," Ferdinand was worried.

"I’m sorry," was all she could say.

She knew Ferdinand was still traumatized from the last time she was unconscious.

"I’m not scolding you.

I just want you to eat properly and not work too much.

I’ll tell Raymond to lessen the workload he had been sending you," Ferdinand concluded.

"Eh? No, you don’t have to.

This amount of work is alright.

I’m already getting used to doing these, so I want to keep going just like this."

Arabella assured him she could take this much.

This was nothing compared to all the work she did in her past life.

"The Assembly will end in three days anyway. I’ll have less work soon. And I’ll do my best to eat properly."

"But you are too busy," Ferdinand still didn’t like it.

[Is she feeling pressured to work too hard?

It had only been a few months since she became the Empress.

She can take it easy for now since everything is still in transition.]

"Raymond and I can do the other tasks, so you just take your time.

Do not work too hard like Alwin.

What if you get sick too?"

[Humans are so fragile.

Alwin can recover quickly with some rest.

But if Arabella gets sick, what if her body cannot take it?

I’ve watched humans die like ants so many times.]

’Like ants? Can’t he at least compare me to something else?’

[Just the weather changing is dangerous for them.

It will be Fall soon and then Winter.

A lot of humans get sick and die in winter.

Her body can’t be in a weakened state when it would be in a few months.

Just the thought is terrifying.

I’d rather die than see her death.]

Ferdinand’s eyes were filled with worry and fear at the thought of circumstances that could take her away.

Arabella understood now why he was so worried.

For someone who had survived everything, he had watched too many deaths.

And he feared seeing hers the most.

[How can they manage to love many people when they get this feeling, this unreasonable fear in turn once you love someone?]

Ferdinand didn’t understand how people with families and loved ones could live with such feelings of fear and worry.

"We think positively and rely on the hope that everything will turn out well in the end," Arabella said, and Ferdinand flinched.

He forgot she could hear his thoughts. He was still getting used to it.

"That is also scary. What if something happened while you are relying on that belief?" Ferdinand pointed out.

"Then, you just have to take measures to prevent anything bad from happening.

You are careful but likewise, thinking positively so you won’t be riddled with worries all the time."

"I can’t do that.

I won’t ever stop worrying about you," Ferdinand denied her suggestion.

He didn’t want to let his guard down one bit.

"Alright, alright. I’ll take some rest once we are in Estrella," Arabella surrendered.

"Of course, you should."

"Yes, I will do only a bit of work," she smiled.

"No, you will not do any work while we are there," Ferdinand was stern.

"Eh? But just a bit," Arabella countered.

"No. Why were you even planning to do any work there? That time is supposed to be for you and me," he complained.

Ferdinand wanted her all to himself once they were there since they had both been too busy lately.

They haven’t been able to spend as much time together, just the two of them.

"Oh, right.

Right!

We would be busy on each other," Arabella gave him a peck on the cheek.

She agreed not to do any work there since it was indeed a time for just them.

They were supposed to work on deepening their relationship instead of doing some work.

Ferdinand finally smiled again and began heading downstairs.

Alwin and Riley teleported to their side when they saw her in his arms.

"Did she get hurt?"

"Is Her Majesty not feeling well?"

The two were prepared to heal her or make a potion for her.

The others who were doing their work stopped and stared at her.

They tensed and wondered if something happened to her again.

It indeed caused a fuss.

Arabella wanted to hide her face in embarrassment but had to act like this was nothing.

She could still feel the heat rising to her face though despite trying to look unaffected.

"No. She’s fine.

I just carried her off from her study or she’ll work herself to death," Ferdinand replied and the two blinked twice before nodding their head.

The others sighed in relief and bowed in greeting as usual before resuming their work after Ferdinand passed by.

"That’s exactly why I told you not to carry me," Arabella whispered.

"They should get used to it," Ferdinand said nonchalantly.
