Chapter 1116: Rise of a New Era VIII
It was no surprise that the Silverfang territory expanded in the following months. Everything worked much better than expected, and it was a great surprise to everyone when nobody stopped their expansion. There were a few Lords in the surroundings, but none of them had been bothered to initiate communication.@@@@
If anything, they’d avoided Caesus and the Silverfang Tigerfolk to the best of their capabilities. That should have been warning enough, but Caesus and his people had been too excited.
They didn’t realize what was happening until it was already too late.
One day, the ground in the massive ocean gulf tremored violently. The tremors were strong enough to shake some buildings and push them until they collapsed. That was enough to put everyone on guard.
"We receive hostile signals from the ocean. Maritime monsters are emerging from the gulf and the surroundings!" A Champion shouted at the top of his lungs when he rushed past the Orb of Hostiltiy.
"How many are there?" Caesus asked in a hurry, even though he could already sense the number.
"Hundreds of thousands, maybe even more!" Someone else responded, but Caesus had already turned to the gulf. Something humongous stirred in the gulf...something powerful enough to make his hair stand up to its end.
Caesus nibbled on his lower lip and disappeared through the Runic Gate for a moment. He emerged in Tiagro, retrieved a red crystal, and crushed it. A moment later, he returned to the Origin Expanse, where the massive head of a mighty creature emerged from the gulf.
The head was the first Caesus saw, but he could instantly tell what the creature was. The heavy presence filling the air showed Caesus what kind of enemy he would have to fight.
Yet, nobody cared about them. The Silverfangs were too busy with preparing their defenses. The villages of the fishing crews were deserted and ordered to return to the main settlements, which they reached just in time by using three Behemoth Goats. Caesus tamed them without using his powers. He used the abilities he had learned through decades of handling animals and trained them with the help of some Beast Trainers. This was a job for which only a few Silverfang Summons were granted. In fact, Caesus had never seen anyone else with a job like this in the time he worked with – for – Michael.
The Beast Trainers had tamed various monsters, mostly livestock, since they arrived in their new home. Unfortunately, none of them were combat mounts. That would have made many things easier.
But since that wasn’t the case, the Silverfang Tigerfolk had to fight on their own. Their Lord was busy wrestling a Divine Beast, a fully-grown Dragon who had been hibernating for centuries – probably to attain godhood or to rest even longer for whatever purpose.
The hordes of Elemental Crabs, Metal-covered Crabs, and tens of thousands of serpents, several nests of them with tens of varieties – mutations and evolution –, each more dangerous than the other, charged ahead.
They crushed the ports, the boats, and the tiny villages before making their way to the main settlement. Most monsters didn’t even want to move to the settlement, but the strongest had received a command from the Ocean Dragon.
They were told to destroy everything to return the well-deserved silence in the Ocean Dragon’s land.
The maritime monsters followed the Ocean Dragon’s will and charged at the main settlement. Your next read awaits at novelhall.Côm
For the first time since the Silverfang territory had been established, their existence was in danger.
They had to fight with their lives on the line, or everything would be over.
