Chapter 11 Grey Robe, Fruit Wine, and Pocket Watch

Chapter 11 Grey Robe, Fruit Wine, and Pocket Watch

At the critical moment!

A cold glint flashed in Li Ang's eyes, and his spiritual power surged forth.

Two compressed "wind hammers," accompanied by a sharp, piercing sound, instantly took shape and shot out.

As if struck by a hammer, the two 'jellyfish' were instantly sent flying.

"Pfft, pfft"

The dark purple jellyfish exploded in the air, their bodies oozing juice like two crushed tomatoes, scattered in pieces on the ground.

Helena stared in shock at the sudden appearance of Li Ang, her eyes filled with disbelief and tears of lingering fear.

"You..." She uttered just one word.

"Tap...tap...tap..."

Steady footsteps echoed at the entrance of the passage.

The wizard Celeste walked slowly with a calm and unhurried expression. Along the way, with a casual gesture, flames would take away a 'jellyfish' monster.

His sharp, hawk-like gray eyes first swept over the remains of the two slain monsters on the ground, then his gaze, as if it were tangible, was firmly fixed on Li Ang, who had just withdrawn his hand and was still breathing heavily.

The passageway was deathly silent, save for Helena's suppressed sobs.

Theronster's gaze lingered on Li Ang for a full three breaths. A faint hint of surprise flashed across his eyes, which then transformed into a deep scrutiny and a barely perceptible admiration.

He didn't speak, but nodded slightly, then turned his gaze to the still-shaken Helena. After confirming that she was alright, he turned and left.

He was only there to make sure that any who had slipped through the net had been completely eliminated; he wasn't particularly concerned about those who couldn't even condense star points.

Helena only calmed down after Theronst left, and she bowed deeply to Li Ang.

Then, in a trembling voice, he said, "Thank you so much, Li Ang. If it weren't for you, I'm afraid I would be dead."

Li Ang smiled and said, "Don't mention it. Even without me, Wizard Celeste should be able to save you."

He then calmed Helena down before returning to his room.

Only then did Li Ang have time to examine the brass pocket watch he had just picked up.

[Acceleration Pocket Watch: Lv0]

[Status: Bindable]

[Binding Cost: 1 Spirit Points]

Li Ang couldn't wait to bind the device, and a familiar sense of connection washed over him.

[Binding successful]

[Acceleration Pocket Watch: Current Level Lv0]

[Current effect: Wearing it can accelerate your body's recovery speed.]

[Level 1 Effect: Stamina recovery speed during sleep +10%, mental recovery speed during meditation +10%, natural recovery speed +10%]

[Upgrade Requirements: 1 Magic Stars in the Spirit World, 5 Spirit Points consumed]

Seeing the effect of the pocket watch, Li Ang suppressed his excitement and chose to upgrade without any hesitation.

Unlike the [Windwalker Canvas], which loses its effect once it leaves the ship, this is a wizard's equipment that belongs entirely to you!

Li Ang slept for only six hours that night and felt full of energy. This pocket watch would undoubtedly allow him to make a name for himself among the many apprentices.

The aftermath of the sea monster attack didn't completely subside until the early morning of the following day.

The lower deck was filled with a strong stench of blood and a lingering foul smell from the corrosive liquid.

The reserve apprentices were all wounded, and a sense of panic permeated the air.

In the chaos last night, three reserve apprentices tragically lost their lives to the stings of those small sea monsters. Their bodies were quickly disposed of and thrown into the sea.

Those who survived are now living in fear, dreading another sea monster attack...

During this extraordinary time, the wizard Celeste summoned everyone again and announced news that surprised everyone.

"Leon Carlson," Ceronst's icy voice called out the name. "Step forward."

Under the watchful eyes of dozens of people, Li Ang calmly walked out of the crowd.

Those gazes held astonishment, jealousy, and disbelief, while Matthew's eyes were filled with twisted resentment and a barely concealed fear.

"Your performance last night proved your ability and value."

"You successfully condensed star particles and demonstrated courage and mastery of magic in actual combat."

Theronst's voice remained calm, but his words themselves were a great endorsement.

"From this moment on, you are officially promoted to wizard apprentice."

His attendant stepped forward carrying a wooden tray.

On the plate lay a neatly folded, finely textured grey robe, and a book titled "Basic Potions" that was noticeably thicker than "The Book of Level 0 Spells".

"Here are your apprentice robes and new instruction books. There are a few other things you'll have to collect when you return to the Wizard's Tower. Your accommodations have been moved to the third deck; you can choose any room you like," Theronst said succinctly.

"Thank you, Lord Theronster." Leon bowed and accepted the item symbolizing his change of status with both hands.

When his fingers touched the soft gray fabric, he knew that he had finally truly stepped onto the threshold of the wizard's path...

As Li Ang changed into his slightly oversized grey apprentice robe and, under the watchful, fearful gaze of Kavi and the almost fiery stare of Matthew, carried his simple luggage toward the stairs leading to the third floor, he could clearly feel the complex gazes behind him that seemed to pierce through him.

Helena's gaze held a mixture of heartfelt blessings and a touch of envy.

The third-floor cabins were like two completely different worlds from the lower levels.

The corridor was spacious and bright, covered with thick, non-slip carpet, and the air was filled with a faint, comforting scent of incense, instead of the musty smell of decay.

Li Ang randomly selected a room. Although the room was not large, it was clean and tidy. The room was fully equipped with a wooden bed, a desk, a wardrobe, and even a separate bathroom with a porthole window.

Through the porthole, you can see the vast sky and the azure sea.

At lunchtime, Li Ang ate in the small restaurant on the third floor for the first time.

A pristine white linen tablecloth and gleaming silver cutlery.

A waiter in a tuxedo pushed a cart and brought in today's lunch.

The food here is no longer sour black bread and porridge so thick you can see your reflection in it, but rather soft and fragrant white bread, steaming hot soup with oil and chunks of meat floating on top, and even a small glass of clear, low-alcohol aperitif with a sweet, fruity aroma.

Li Ang slowly savored the deliciousness of the soup and the satisfaction brought by the oil, feeling the wheat aroma of the bread melt in his mouth, and took a small sip of the chilled fruit wine. The slightly sour and sweet liquid slid down his throat, bringing a long-lost sense of satisfaction that belonged to 'life' rather than 'survival'.

After finishing lunch, Li Ang returned to his room on the thick, soft carpet. He lay half-reclined on the soft bed and stretched comfortably.

"Hmm... this is what a normal life should be like."

The previous days of life on the bottom of the boat had tormented him, a man who had never suffered hardship in both his two lifetimes.

He no longer wanted to return to that life of being like an ant, and he believed that only by constantly becoming stronger and demonstrating his value could he live a better life in this world.
