Chapter 296 The Ancestral Dragon's Agent
The ring is entirely a deep night sky blue, inlaid with seven tiny yet incredibly bright star points arranged in the shape of the Big Dipper.
When Li Ang gazed at it, the seven points of starlight seemed to be slowly rotating, containing a heart-stopping power within.
Dragon Soul Ring
Status: Bound
[Effect: Can summon all dragon souls stored in the ring space, including the Starry Sky Dragon, to fight. It takes 72 hours to recharge its power after each use.]
At the same time, a flood of fragmented information rushed into Li Ang's consciousness like a burst dam.
An endless swarm of insects, obscuring the sun and moon, devouring the sparks of civilization—
Deep within the swarm, a shadow as massive as a planet gazed upon the world with its cold, compound eyes—
The nests buried deep in the earth's crust pulsate like living things, constantly producing new Zerg.
After receiving this information, Li Ang regained consciousness. Inside the workshop, Maya, Helena, Ludick, Olivia, as well as Nelson and Rodney, were all staring at him blankly, clearly still reeling from the earth-shattering events that had just transpired.
Outside the courtyard, the giant dragons still lay prostrate on the ground, but their gazes were no longer focused on the vanished phantom of the ancestral dragon. Instead, their expressions were complex and somewhat bewildered as they looked at Li Ang, the alien race who had been entrusted with power and mission by the ancestral dragon.
Li Ang took a deep breath, stepped to the edge of the workshop, and glanced at the dark mass of dragons below before finally settling on Veronica, the high priestess of the light dragons at the head of the group.
His voice was calm, yet it clearly resonated throughout the silent starry sky: "High Priest, now—may we leave?"
Veronica slowly raised her head, her face, shrouded in light, revealing no expression. She remained silent for several seconds, during which all the dragons' eyes were focused on her, awaiting the decision of the dragon race's highest leader.
Finally, she slowly rose, the holy light around her receding to reveal a serene and beautiful face, yet one etched with deep weariness. Facing Li Ang, for the first time, she bowed slightly in an attitude of equality: "The Ancestral Dragon has made his choice. The Dragon Clan—will naturally obey."
She straightened up, surveyed her surroundings, and her voice resounded throughout the dragon horde: "From this day forward, Lord Li Ang is the agent of the Ancestral Dragon's will. All of my dragon race shall regard him as the Ancestral Dragon. Red Dragon Queen Alex."
Alex's one eye twitched, and she struggled to her feet.
"Your conflict with Lord Leon ends here. Olivia," Veronica said, looking at the tense red dragon girl in the workshop.
"Since she has chosen to follow Lord Li Ang, let her go. The Dragon Clan will not interfere, nor will they pursue her treasonous act any further."
Alex's lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she just lowered her head deeply: "Yes, sir."
Veronica looked at Leon again, a faint, almost bitter smile on her face: "Lord Leon—no, Ancestral Dragon Agent, if you wish to leave, the Dragon Clan will not stop you. However—"
She paused, her voice lowering slightly, carrying an almost imperceptible plea: "When the end truly comes—if you still remember today, please—for the sake of Lord Ancestral Dragon, grant the dragon race a way out."
Li Ang gazed at her for a moment and then said, "This is not something I can guarantee. If we want to fight against the End, we need the joint efforts of all of us."
Veronica was silent for a moment before finally saying, "As long as you can guarantee that after defeating the End, our dragon bloodline will still exist in this world and have a place, we are willing to fight against the End with you."
Li Ang nodded: "I assure you that I will treat all allies fighting against the End equally and will never do anything to sacrifice any race for victory."
Upon hearing this, Veronica bowed again and then stepped aside to make way. As she did so, the prostrate dragons parted like waves, slowly creating a passage.
The starry sky began to fade, and the sunlight, sulfurous smell, and red glow of lava seeped back in, revealing the familiar dark red sky of the Scorching Flame Sacred Domain.
As the last star disappeared, Li Ang found himself and the workshop back in their original positions, with no dragons blocking their way anymore.
"Let's go." Li Ang turned and walked towards the control panel.
The floating workshop emitted a low hum, its power core running at full speed, carrying everyone back in the direction they had come from.
The workshop was completely silent.
Maya was the first to lose her temper, rushing to Li Ang's side, grabbing his arm, her large, emerald-green eyes wide open: "Li Ang! What exactly happened just now? Was what that star-shaped lizard said true? You—you really have fought against the End eleven times?"
"Maya." Li Ang gently patted her head, his voice tinged with weariness, "There are many things I've only just figured out myself. I need some time to sort out my thoughts."
Maya blushed instantly, obediently released her hand, and whispered, "Oh—um—okay."
Olivia finally found an opportunity. Contrary to her usual lazy demeanor, she put her hands behind her back, unconsciously shuffling her toes on the ground, and slowly moved in front of Li Ang.
That perpetually sleepy little face was now slightly flushed, her red vertical pupils darting away, yet she tried her best to look at Li Ang, then at Helena and Ludick behind Li Ang, and Little Bean who was still in a daze beside him.
"Um—" Olivia cleared her throat, her voice lower than usual, with an unprecedented awkwardness.
"Captain—and everyone—thank you."
She paused, seemingly feeling that it was too understated, and quickly added, speaking faster: "Anyway, thank you for coming to save me. I—I'm really happy to see you again." She spoke the last few words softly, her tone carrying a sense of relief.
Seeing her unusually serious expression, Li Ang smiled, raised his hand and patted her shoulder, a gesture that made Olivia's body relax a little.
"No need to thank me, we're companions." He glanced at the people sitting or standing in the living room, his tone gentle.
"Although our group has been put on hold, at least for now, all the members are together."
He turned to Maya, who was still somewhat dazed, and asked, "Your Majesty, now that things are settled on Mount Holy Land, what are your plans? Are you going back to Ironforge first, or what?"
When Maya heard the title "Your Majesty," her lips twitched almost imperceptibly, and she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.
"Why has Li Angqing's title changed back again—" she muttered to herself, but her face remained impassive.
"I've already arranged everything that needs to be done in Ironforge before I left. Those old—cough, ministers will handle domestic affairs according to the established procedures."
