Chapter 19 Helping Others
Chapter 19 Helping Others
Outside Tingtao Pavilion, on a gravel path.
A maid dressed in purple, disregarding her manners, lifted her skirt and ran breathlessly into the inner room where Wang Long was resting.
"What kind of behavior is this, all flustered and in such a hurry!"
Wang Long, reclining on the chair, frowned, opened his eyes in displeasure, and toyed with two smooth jade walnuts in his hands, speaking in a light and dismissive tone:
"Was it because Sixth Brother went too far and beat that good-for-nothing too badly? Humph, I knew Sixth Brother was a brainless brute."
The purple-clad maidservant, pale-faced and not daring to even look Wang Long in the eye, stammered, "Third...Third Young Master, no! It's...it's the Sixth Young Master who lost!"
"What?" Wang Long paused in his hand, which was holding walnuts.
"The Sixth Young Master was completely crushed by the Seventh Young Master! He was truly crushed; he was beaten from beginning to end!" The maid's voice trembled.
"rub!"
Wang Long suddenly jumped up from the recliner, and the two priceless jade walnuts fell to the ground with a "thud" and shattered into pieces, but he didn't care at the moment.
"What nonsense are you talking about?!"
Wang Long's eyes widened, filled with shock and absurdity:
"Although Lao Liu is a good-for-nothing who rose to power through resources, he is still a martial artist who has refined his Silver Bones and stepped into the Dragon Spine Realm!"
"Even I would have to put in a lot of effort to suppress him."
"That seventh brother is just a Golden Membrane Realm cultivator, how could he possibly suppress the sixth brother?"
This completely defies the common sense of cultivation. Could it be that the reason why the Seventh Elder defeated me that day was not just because his cultivation was sealed?
Before he could recover from the enormous shock, the purple-clad maid lowered her head even further, her voice barely audible yet as loud as thunder:
"There's...there's more..."
"What else? Tell me all at once!" A sense of foreboding rose in Wang Long's heart.
"When the Sixth Young Master was defeated... he shouted in front of everyone that it was you, Third Young Master... that you told him to go and cause trouble for the Seventh Young Master... and that it was all your idea... Now, now the entire Prince's Mansion probably knows..."
"I think he's gone mad!!"
Wang Long felt a buzzing in his head, his whole body went numb instantly, and then an uncontrollable rage surged straight to the top of his head.
"That good-for-nothing idiot! Useless! Is his brain filled with shit?!"
Wang Long was so angry that he cursed loudly, and his face turned green.
Being defeated by the seventh brother is bad enough, but to have to expose himself at this critical juncture? How is he supposed to maintain his standing in the manor after this?
"Quick! To Hidden Dragon Pavilion!"
Wang Long could no longer sit still. He lifted his clothes and rushed out, praying that the idiot wouldn't say anything more.
……
At this moment, the Hidden Dragon Pavilion was already filled with a solemn and tense atmosphere.
What was originally a struggle between juniors has now attracted the attention of the real bigwigs of the Prince's mansion.
An aura of elegance and grandeur, yet also one of profound and oppressive power, descended upon this place.
Leading the group was Princess Zheng Wanqing, dressed in a bright red robe adorned with peonies and golden phoenixes. Her expression was calm, revealing neither joy nor anger.
Behind her, the second wife Liu Mei, the third wife Ye Ningxiang, and the fourth wife who usually lived a secluded life were all present.
However, even with so many elders present, the scene in the center of the courtyard remained unchanged.
Wang Wu lay on the ground like a dead dog, his chest caved in and his mouth full of blood.
Wang Dao, however, maintained his domineering and ruthless posture, one foot firmly planted on Wang Wu's face, crushing the dignity of this sixth young master into the dust.
"Wang Dao! How long are you going to go on your madness?! Didn't you hear me tell you to stop?!"
Seeing her son's pitiful state, Third Madam Ye Ningxiang felt heartbroken and tears streamed down her face. She pointed at Wang Dao and scolded him sharply, her eyes filled with a look of hatred that seemed to want to tear a piece of flesh off him.
Despite the Third Madam's rage, Wang Dao remained unperturbed.
He slightly raised his head, his gaze sweeping over the ladies with their varied expressions, finally settling on the exasperated Ye Ningxiang, a cynical smile playing on his lips:
"Third Aunt, what makes you say that?"
Wang Dao pressed down slightly with his foot, causing Wang Wu on the ground to let out a painful groan, but he spoke slowly and deliberately:
"This is just a friendly sparring match between brothers to strengthen their bond. According to the rules, the sparring match is only over when one side acquiesces."
"You see, Sixth Brother hasn't said the word 'admit defeat' yet, which means he believes he can still fight."
"Even if you, Third Madam, are deeply devoted to your son, you cannot break the rules of the Prince's Mansion, would you agree?"
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. I won't really hurt Sixth Brother."
Wang Dao deliberately emphasized the word "really," his dark eyes filled with undisguised mockery and provocation.
"Alright, Dao'er."
Zheng Wanqing, who had been quietly observing, finally spoke up at the opportune moment.
She lazily adjusted her bright red peony and gold phoenix robe, her voice gentle as water, yet carrying an undeniable air of authority:
"Let go of the sixth brother first. We're all family. We can talk things out slowly. Look how anxious your third aunt is. What if she gets sick from getting upset?"
As she spoke, Zheng Wanqing raised her phoenix eyes slightly, and with a half-smile, she swept her gaze over the ladies beside her, whose expressions varied. A meaningful smile curved her lips.
She found the scene increasingly interesting; since Wang Dao came to the fore, the once lifeless palace had become much more lively.
Upon hearing this, Wang Dao did not immediately move his feet, but instead bowed slightly to Zheng Wanqing, and said with a serious expression:
"Your Highness, it's not that I'm unwilling to release Sixth Brother, but his actions today were utterly despicable. He not only disgraced himself but also brought shame upon the entire Zhenbei Prince's Mansion!"
"My child is helping him repent and reform, and to promote the spirit of helping others!"
"presumptuous!"
Third Madam Ye Ningxiang trembled with rage, pointing at Wang Dao and screaming:
"You're the one who's despicable! Treating your own brother so cruelly, trampling him underfoot and humiliating him—you've gone too far!"
"Sister Zheng, this kind of unfilial son should be punished according to family rules immediately!"
Facing the Third Madam's murderous gaze, Wang Dao remained unhurried, even having the leisure to dust off his sleeves.
"Why is Third Aunt so angry? If we're going to talk things out, let's have a proper discussion."
Wang Dao surveyed his surroundings, his voice clear and powerful:
"Early this morning, Sixth Brother barged into my Hidden Dragon Pavilion without prior notice. He not only injured several of my servants, but also kept trying to steal the essence blood of the ancient savage elephant that Father had specially bestowed upon me a few days ago."
At this point, Wang Dao suddenly turned his head, his gaze sharp and fixed on Ye Ningxiang, and asked, word by word:
"Third Aunt, doesn't Sixth Brother know that it was a gift from Father? Knowing it was a gift from Father, he still dared to openly snatch it. This is disregarding Father's authority!"
"Or... is this actually at your behest, Third Madam? Did you tell him to do this?"
"Do you feel that Father's distribution of rewards was unfair and want to take charge on his behalf?"
